With a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Calgary and extensive teaching experience across different countries and educational settings, I have worked with a large number of students at a wide range of levels, from complete beginners to advanced musicians and university-level learners. My teaching background includes guitar performance, music theory, composition, musicianship, and related areas of music technology, allowing me to approach instruction from both practical and academic perspectives.

My teaching methodology emphasizes the integration of technical development, theoretical understanding, aural awareness, musical interpretation, and creative confidence. In guitar instruction, I focus on developing the technical, theoretical, aural, and analytical skills required for students to become self-sufficient musicians. This includes building a strong command of technique, fretboard knowledge, rhythm, articulation, tone production, improvisation, harmonic awareness, and stylistic interpretation, while helping students understand how these elements function together in real musical contexts. My goal is to equip students with the practical knowledge, critical listening skills, and problem-solving strategies needed to evaluate their own playing, make informed musical decisions, and continue developing beyond the lesson environment. In music theory and composition, I work with students on harmony, melody, form, voice leading, analysis, arrangement, and the practical application of theoretical concepts within their own musical work.
